Quests, Dialogue Choices and Multiple Endings
Understand Underkeep branching encounters and announced endings, and avoid treating every special dialogue option as the safest answer.
FAQ
How do quests change exploration?
Are special options always the correct answer?
How do quests change exploration?
The We Have Quests update describes a partly open world where players can encounter tasks in different orders, skip an opening step or approach a location from another direction. The team aims to keep those interactions consistent. That design allows side adventures and consequences, but does not establish the exact outcome of every dialogue choice.

Are special options always the correct answer?
No. Closer to the Depths says special encounter options and outcomes have expanded, and that these choices can no longer be assumed to be the safest or beneficial answer. Read the situation and consider your party instead of automatically selecting an unusual option because it appears exclusive.
What is confirmed about endings?
The same developer update announces multiple endings tied to decisions throughout the adventure. It does not publish a complete decision tree. The Mushroom questline from the demo is confirmed for the full game with changes, which is another reason not to promote an old demo sequence into a guaranteed release ending.
